For this week’s makeup artist spotlight, we’re featuring Jenny Nguyen, a Vietnamese makeup artist based in Houston. Jenny is known for her radiant bridal looks that are stylish and elevated but still look like you.

Get to know Jenny, a top Houston wedding makeup artist

With 14 years of bridal makeup experience, Jenny brings both skill and heart to every wedding day. Born and raised in Vietnam, she now works alongside her sister Trudie, a hair stylist. There’s something special about a pair of sisters helping you and your family get ready—just ask any of Jenny and Trudie’s happy clients.

Jenny specializes in that perfect in-between of glam but not too glam makeup. Her signature bridal makeup style enhances your features without masking them. Here are some looks we're loving:

Q: How did you discover your passion for makeup?

A: I discovered my passion for makeup at the age of 17 while modeling for agencies and studios in Vietnam. A year later, I began my journey and worked with experienced artists. We did makeup on runway models, singers, and advertising campaigns. I had a great time and had numerous opportunities in my early career.

Q: What’s your favorite part of being a makeup artist?

A: The most rewarding aspect of being a makeup artist is making people feel more beautiful and confident. Plus, I believe makeup is an art form, and I want to put my all into helping each person feel like the best version of themselves.

Q: Your past clients rave about the natural, radiant looks you create. How do you approach achieving a "natural" bridal makeup look that still looks glamorous?

A: I can't give you a quick explanation of how I got a "natural" bridal look, but having healthy skin is essential for beautiful makeup. I'm always happy when my client arrives with a clean face and hydrated skin. Second, you must pick the right colors and products. In particular, I usually advise matching the foundation to your undertone and shade. Your makeup will appear more natural if you choose the right foundation.

Q: What's your favorite tip to give brides on how to look their best on their wedding day?

A: "Stress less and sleep more" is my best tip for my brides. I understand that wedding planning is stressful but I hope they can have at least a few hours to relax on the makeup chair and feel how beautiful they are on the best day of their life. Someone has said "A perfect wedding is the one where you marry the one person you love." ❤️
